Parker Clay, a lifestyle brand designed in California and made in Ethiopia, will be joining the tenants of the San Luis Obispo Public Market. Parker Clay sells both women’s and men’s lifestyle goods, including bags, totes, travel essentials, and wallets.
While living in Ethiopia Ian and Brittany, co-founders of Parker Clay, saw firsthand how young, vulnerable women and children without opportunity or education ended up in a life of prostitution, or even sold into human trafficking. They had the fortune of spending time with organizations working to empower these women through skills development and job creation.
Today, Parker Clay operates its own factory in Ethiopia and employs over 105 men and women. As a certified B-Corp, they are committed to ethical production standards and operate their production facility according to fair trade principles. Their employees are given fair wages, vacation time, pension plans, transportation to and from work, access to laundry facilities, daily team coffee breaks and more. Parker Clay believes a holistic investment in their team members will have a direct impact on their families and communities.
San Luis Obispo will be Parker Clay's second retail location, with their first located in Santa Barbara. They will also be joined by other retail tenants in the Public Market, with more announcements coming soon.
Until their new location is open, check out their story and products at www.parkerclay.com.
